Democrats know that they don’t have anyone capable of beating Trump as it stands right now. Kamala Harris, Liz Warren, or some other coastal elite isn’t going to move the needle for them in places like Michigan and Ohio especially when you consider the fact the economy is booming and Americans will be getting major tax relief. Those are winning issues. Transgender bathrooms and Russia conspiracies aren’t.
If Democrats were confident they had a shot in 2020 they likely wouldn’t be fawning over Oprah the way they are. She’s someone with no political backbone and she has said that she isn’t running. And yet, the liberal left is desperately pushing the idea that she’s going to run and the reaction to her recent Golden Globes speech has been simply hysterical.
Trump was asked about running against Oprah and he only needed to 3 words to sum up the situation.
From Fox News:
President Donald Trump said Tuesday he believes he would defeat Oprah Winfrey in a potential 2020 presidential election, but doesn’t believe she’ll run.
Trump took a few questions after a meeting with top Democrats and Republicans on a potential immigration deal on border security and DACA.
As he wrapped up the event, a reporter asked “can you you beat Oprah?”
“Yeah, I’ll beat Oprah,” he answered.
He recalled that he and his family appeared on Oprah’s TV show in its final week.
“I like Oprah. I don’t think she’s gonna run,” he said, joking that he hoped the assembled reporters would have “enough material.”
Trump is right. Oprah has no shot and she probably won’t even run.
Still not convinced she won’t win?
Bill Kristol thinks she can.
Yikes. Case closed. Not happening.
There are some polls out there that have Oprah beating Trump.
From Washington Examiner:
TV’s Oprah Winfrey’s hint that she might be interested in a presidential bid has caught fire around the nation and now a new poll puts her well ahead of President Trump in a faceoff.
Winfrey leads Trump 47 percent to 40 percent in a new Public Policy Polling survey, and has a better favorability rating than the president.
We all know how much stock to put in polls.
The liberal left can talk about Oprah all they want. In fact, it’s a good distraction from the GOP’s point of view. The longer the media is wasting time on Oprah and the clearly made up Michael Wolff book, the more time Republicans can spend on real issues that actually matter to people between New York and Los Angeles. That’s the area Trump is laser focused on and he’s making some big strides.
For example, check out what’s happening to manufacturing jobs.
U.S. manufacturing expanded in December at the fastest pace in three months, as gains in orders and production capped the strongest year for factories since 2004, the Institute for Supply Management said Wednesday.
Think Oprah is going to make something like that happen?
There’s no way.
